Ely is a great starting point for visitors to the fens, it’s magnificent Norman Cathedral, dating from the 11th century has featured in many recent films, one of the most recent being ‘The Kings Speach’, Ely Stained Glass Museum is nestled within the Cathedral itself. Visit the University City of Cambridge with its historic colleges, go punting on the Cam, or sample the excellent shopping facilities. Newmarket – the home of horse racing is 16 miles away, and the market towns of Bury St Edmunds, Huntingdon, St Ives & Kings Lynn are just a short car drive. The Cathedral City of Norwich, and the beautiful Norfolk Broads are approximately one hour away. Stansted Airport is only a 40 minute drive, and London is just 60 miles down the M11.

Local attractions are many, including Wicken Fen and Welney Washes, great for bird watchers, walkers and fishermen alike. Country houses are in abundance, Anglesey Abbey, Audley End, Denny Abbey, Wimpole Hall, and the Queens Norfolk retreat of Sandringham. Rutland and Grafham Water reservoirs are close by for walking, cycling and watersports. Or why not just relax with a Great Ouse River Trip…

If your passion is fishing look no further than 50 metres from our front door, we are lucky enough to be situated next to the Old Bedford River, if golf is your thing, the City of Ely has a mature 18 hole parkland Golf Club, overlooked by Kings School of Ely. Oliver Cromwell’s house is open all year round and the Tourist information centre is located there, where a wealth of knowledge is available on all of the local and regional attractions.
